First off.  Anyone out there reading this who's still alive.  PLEASE CHECK IN WITH US.  Let know you're okay.  Please.  I have my cell, and I'm online, and the electricity and computer networks are still up, even if a lot of the TV stations are starting to show static.

Ate breakfast and met the other 'new arrivals.'  This is getting really weird.  They've got a bunch of 20-30 something doctors, teachers, farmers,engineers... I think they kidnapped a couple of army people too.  These guys are almost definitely not part of the regular army or government agencies, though apparently they have control of Aberdeen?  These people are from all over, and I do mean ALL over.  As in, they've grabbed people from India and Korea and Gana and literally everywhere.  An embarrassing number speak English..  They also have a bunch of teenagers that have been here for longer; some of them almost a year.  The kids looked somewhere in the 18ish range; they look like babies to me.  Apparently a lot of them are runaways and street kids, people that won't be missed. I think they were thinking in terms of ...maximum reproductive capacity.  Ergh.  People were pretty angry, but the Mulder got most people down to the level of  grumbling.  Apparently,  the part of the crisis he's managing is us.  I have to say he's pretty good at it. The Mulder is pretty charming for a guy that looks like he hasn't slept in two days or seen the sun in two years, and he took his nickname with reasonably good grace but...I'm getting the impression that....well, if this were a movie I don't think he'd be one of the good guys.

So the fact that they're letting me post this much information worries me.  I mean, the internet only has so much credibility, but still....Locations?  The fact that they've been kidnapping kids?

They don't expect life to go back to normal after this.  That's why it doesn't matter what we find out.  So I think they figure the more they're (relatively) honest, the more cooperative those of us inside and anyone who's making it so far outside will be longterm.

Besides, in terms of crazy zombie rabies virus-proof compounds with large short-term food supplies and farming equipment for later, they're sort of the only game in town.  Particularly judging by the news.  The government is collapsing. I guess they'd call out the army, except for the fact that yanno, they're almost all in Iraq for some reason. They finally turned off the TV after some blond fox anchor chick got grabbed on live TV.  I think they figure they've scared us enough now.

I'm not going to say people should avoid them.  I think their tips for dealing with these things is legit, and like I said, we don't have a ton of options.  However, if you're out there somewhere, you need to know what you're getting yourself into dealing with this people.

I don't think it would do any good. They've got fire and rescue stationed along the Metro routes, but nobody can move with all the gridlock and the crowds of confused people. From the information we've been able to get, I'm lucky we've still got power. If it gets much worse, we'll probably all go hole up in the conference room until...well, I guess from what you're saying, there may not be an "until."

Yeah, things are looking bad. Good that the power is still up, though. I'm surprised the internet is still functional; seems like most of the big servers are running. Mulder dude thinks the first twentyfour hours are going to be the worst. After that the biggest round of infections will have taken place. I keep hoping it will ...it will end some other way. Doesn't look like it.

My stupid car died about 10 blocks from Ron's house. I had to walk the rest of the way. Thankfully, the infected don't seem to be too dense in this area, but I still had to fight several of them.

I found a man trying to protect his girl friend from one of them. It tore his arm off as I was getting there. I dropped it twice before I found a good solid stick to keep in the damned thing's chest to keep it down. He doesn't seem to be manifesting symptoms, but he's lost a lot of blood. I broke into a house that was abandoned and used their stove to sear his wound so he'd stop bleeding, but he needs medical attention. Right around the same time, we found a gangbanger that was running from two more of them. Together, he and I managed to down them.

We made it to Ron's. I'm using his computer. The phone is dead. No news on the TV, and a lot of the radio stations are static now.

I don't really care who these guys that you're with are. We need sanctuary. D-Pac (the gangbanger) thinks he see's a car out the window that he can hotwire. We're going to try to get it started, then the four of us should be on our way.

I'm so tired ... but I know if we stop, we'll all die. We have to keep moving.

Jesus, be careful. Does Ron still have those bottles of water? If the injured guy is conscious enough, have him drink water and eat something salty, keep him warm (not a problem likely in this weather), and if possible keep his legs elevated. If one of you finds a phone my cell is on and I'll be staying near a computer. I hate to say this but...do you think there was fluid exchange between him and his attacker? Doesn't sound like a bite, but just in case someone who's willing to act and quick on their feet should probably stay near him. Keep him talking. It will keep him from going completely into shock, and then you'll know he's...you know...still really with you.

Still here ... a group of infected came down the street just as we were going to head out to commandeer the car.

We're waiting a few more minutes until we're sure it's clear.

I gave D-Pac one of Ron's swords (they're sharp), and I used Ron's whet stones to sharpen the sword of Wushi's I grabbed. One of us well kill him if he starts to go violent. We already talked to Laura about it, and she's upset, but she understands.

I'll tell Laura to feed Dan water and to keep his feet elevated and him under blankets and to keep talking to him.

OK ... the coast looks clear now. We're moving now. With any luck, we'll be there in about an hour. We're going to take less major back roads to stay off the highways until we get to 95.
